There are two more that Federal Service Academies but they are not exactly 'Military". The United States Coast Guard Academy at New London, CT which, although technically under the Department of Homeland Security instead of the Department of Defense, is run much along the lines of the other three colleges. In addition, the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY is also run under the same organizational template, and the Graduates have a choice to join the civilian Merchant Marine service, or be commissioned as an officer in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, or National Guard. Incidentally, a graduate of any of the first three may, through an exchange program. be commissioned as an officer in any of the sister services. (Ex. an Air Force Academy graduate may be commissioned a U. S. Marine second lieutenant as long as a Naval Academy Graduate of the same year is commissioned in the Air Force).
