The genocide took place in the context of the Rwandan Civil War, an ongoing conflict beginning in 1990 between the Hutu-led government and the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), which was largely composed of Tutsi refugees whose families had fled to Uganda following earlier waves of Hutu violence against the Tutsi. Most of the dead were Tutsis and most of those who perpetrated the violence were Hutus. The genocide was sparked by the death of the Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana, a Hutu, when his plane was shot down above Kigali airport on 6 April 1994.
Mainly the Tutsis were targeted in the Rwandan genocide and they do make up the bulk of the victims, but that does not mean that Hutus weren't also killed.
The attackers were the Hutus and the victims were the Tutsis, although many Hutus were also killed in the genocide.
The Tutsis were the victims.
They were hacked to death with machetes.
The victims were the Tutsi tribe.
No. Rwanda is a country where a genocide occurred in the 1990s.
The tutsis were the victims, so if I understand the question they were the protagonists and the Hutus were the antagonists.
no their was no one who got punished for the Rwanda genocide.
Was Rwanda governmentally organized during the Genocide?
Pretty hard to apologize to somebody who is dead...but the man responsible for the 1994 genocide is undergoing war crimes prosecution by the United Nations and World Court.
