Unfortunately, Confederate cavalry from Braxton Bragg's army was able to contain Beull's march, leaving the garrison at Mundfordville alone with no available reinforcements insight. Bragg's army easily assaulted the garrison and won. This caused a Federal delay in its operations in the West.
