union
Black Confederate troops from Mississippi were taken by Union forces to the prison camp outside Chicago, they were unloaded there lined up by Union forces and executed. This was a war crime. There is no monument to these men today
the black
There is no definitive record of the highest ranking black officer in the Union Navy during the American Civil War. However, Robert Smalls stands out as a notable figure. Born into slavery, he successfully commandeered a Confederate ship and delivered it to Union forces. He went on to serve in the Union Navy and eventually became a captain of a vessel.
At first there were no black soldiers fighting for the union until later on during the war.
The Battle of Big Black River Bridge was fought on May 17, 1863 in Mississippi. It was an important Union victory in that the Confederate forces were forced to leave the field and take refuge in the City of Vicksburg. No Southern army could rescue Vicksburg and Union General US Grant began a siege on Vicksburg which would cause Vicksburg to surrender on July 4, 1863.
There are several cemeteries in Gettysburg. The most famous is the one that was established after the great Civil War battle there and was used to bury the white Union dead. Confederate dead and black union soldiers were buried elsewhere.

the uniform was black and white and 30 stars on the Bach and guns
The two key battles that assured the Union victory in the Civil War were Vicksburg and Gettysburg.
Until that point the confederate army seemed to be winning the war. The loss at Gettysburg not only demoralized the confederate army, it decimated it's supplies and personnel. * for Britain to help the confederates win the war the British wanted to see them win on union soil and when that didn't happen the British didn't help supply the confederates * the union wanted to pass something to help the slaves be freed if they won the war to give motive to the north that several people would be passionate about not to mention giving blacks a reason to fight with the north and sabotage the south. this formed the all black groups in the army helping turn the war into the north's favor
Robert Smalls was a slave who commandeered a Confederate ship and made his way to freedom. He then went into service with the Union army.

white There were no black regiments at Gettysburg in 1863.
yes because the Union had the advantage of black men. When Harriet Tubman formed the underground railroad, slaves flourished into the Union states. Some slaves wanted freedom but most slaves wanted retribution and revolution. And smugglers helped many slave emancipate from the confederate clutches. some smugglers and slaves became slaves, like Harriet Tubman. And the Union had more, better spies than the the Confederacy, like Elizabeth Van Lew. That's why the union spys better than the confederate spies.
