There are 3 possibilities:
It depends on what type of iPod you have. If the screen is frozen , on the iPod touch you need to hold down the "hold" button and the "home button" until the screen turns black and or the grey screen shows up with the apple icon. With any other iPod you have to hold in the "menu" and center buttons until the same screen shows up.
The next button should be on the top-left corner of the screen. Pretty much on top of the other person's screen.
Hold down the "Home and Sleep" buttons for about 10-15 seconds, then release the "Sleep" button and hold the home button until the apple logo sign comes up. This will not damage your Ipod Touch at all. This way ismt working for my ipod touch, do u have any other ideas?

Turning on an iPod is simple. For an iPod Touch or iPhone, hit the top right button or the circular button below the screen. Then slide to unlock. For other iPods, touch the center circular button just below the screen, inside of the white circle.
Try hitting the menu and the play button at the same time I've had luck with: Plug the iPod into the computer and bring up iTunes. Then as the other person suggested press and hold the "Power Button" and "Home Button" ... release after the screen turns blacks and you see an apple LOGO appear.
keep planting and planting until you get a black snap apple flower
You hold down the power button and the volume down button for about 10 seconds. the screen should turn black. than hold down all the buttons for about five seconds. when you see white words on the screen, release all the buttons. then a yellow screen should pop up. to scroll down click the volume up button. to scroll up click the volume down button. to select click the power on button. when done, go to the top of the menu and it should say standby. click the power button. the screen should go black. then click the power button again and a apple should pop up and it will go to the main screen. enjoy!

On the Mac keyboard, it is the key to the side (left or right) of the Spacebar with an Apple logo and a "⌘" symbol that is known as Saint John's Arms, or a Bowen Knot; it looks like a flower. The Apple key, Apple button, or what is also known as the Command Key, is a key that adds function; usually with the combination of another key being pressed. IE: Apple+C is a "copy" command, Apple+V is a "paste" command, Apple+Shift+3 with take a picture of your computer screen and save it as an image.
On a Mac Pro, there isn't a dedicated "Home" or "Sleep" button like you might find on other devices. To put your Mac Pro to sleep, you can use the Apple menu by clicking on the Apple logo in the top-left corner and selecting "Sleep." Alternatively, you can press Control + Command + Q to lock the screen, which is a quick way to secure your session. If you’re using a keyboard with function keys, you might also find a sleep option on the power button.
