Answer I would first make sure that the electric fan is working properly. If it is then I would check that the water pump is circulating properly. When the vehicle is running at operating temp squeeze the top and bottom hoses. There should be alot of resistance when this is done. If it is easy to collapse the hose then the water pump is most likely not circulating fast enough of with enough force. This will need to be replaced. Also make sure there is no air in the cooling system. Air will cause to pump not to properly circulate the coolant properly also. Hope this helps you.
I did a manual flush on the heater core with water from a hot water tank. I flushed a ton of crap out but did have to end up replacing the water pump.
When 1990 Honda is running cooling fan does not come on but comes on when engine is off and I thermostat and temperature switch changed?"
Could be your electric fan on the radiator is shot, or the relay is bad.
If you just flushed the system it has to be burped, take out the bolt at the top of where the hose goes in the intake and fill with fluid. Keep squeezing the hose to get the air out and continue to do this. If that's not your problem then maybe the thermostat is stuck and will have to be changed.
Your thermostat is probably stuck open - quite common - had to have my thermostat changed for the same reason (Helpfull)
It could be you thermostat is bad.take it out and replace They're cheap and easy to install.
Depending on your thermostat between 185 and 210 degrees
Get a Bigger Radiator
I changed the water pump and head gaskets and thermostat. Still overheated. I just took the thermostat out and it's running fine. Who knows!!
I have a 2001 Dodge 3500 that was not getting up to operating temperature. I changed the thermostat and that fixed it. I guess the thermostat was stuck open.
Happened to me. Termostat stuck closed. Changed thermostat. Test for possible blown head gasket. Happened to me. Termostat stuck closed. Changed thermostat. Test for possible blown head gasket.
It could be your serpentine belt, thermostat or water pump.
