It is mounted to the starter.
It's bolted to the top of the starter.
The starter needs a large wire from the battery and a wire from the starter switch. These are connected to the solenoid that is attached to the starter.
There's two wires to connect... just put them where they belong. Positive to the solenoid, negative to the starter body.
It could be the starter drive, the solenoid, or the ring gear itself. Best to pull the starter out of there and see what's going on.
The large one from the positive side of the battery attaches to the large post mounted on the starter solenoid and a smaller purple wire that attaches to the small post on the starter solenoid marked "S". The small post on the starter solenoid marked "R" is not used with that vehicle. Any accessory power wires would also attach to the large post on the starter solenoid.
The starter solenoid located on the passenger side just over the wheel and a little toward the rear. My power wire broke off with part of the solenoid housing ...I wonder if this is a common issue.? Gonna put in a plastic shield .
I think it is next to the starter solenoid close to the battery.
If the battery and starter check out good and you are only getting a single click, the problem lies in the starter solenoid or relay. Not sure where the relay might be but the solenoid is usually where the positive battery from the starter connects to. There are at least two wires at the solenoid - the battery cable and a thin wire. check the remote starter solenoid usually monted on right side of engine bay
its 2.5 quarts.
I had the same thing happen to my ford 351. I had to tap on the solienoid to get the starter to stop turning over. On this particular truck the solenoid is mounted under the hood.On alot of chevys the solenoid is mounted on the starter itself.
on top of the starte motor on the left side of engine near botom at bell housing
