- Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness- King George III violated the rights of the colonists by taxing and passing unfair laws; British army violated the colonists rights too- colonists had the right to break away from Britain because the government should protect the people, but King George III didn't do that.
The colonists were angry and resentful over the Townshend Acts and the Stamp Act imposed upon them by the British Parliament. They referred to them as the Intolerable Acts. On March 5, 1770, a group of colonists were taunting some of the British soldiers stationed in Boston. After being threatened verbally and having things thrown at them, the British soldiers fired into the crowd killing five people and wounding six others. This incident became known at the Boston Massacre.
One way the colonists protected their wealth was by engaging in smuggling activities to avoid paying taxes imposed by the British government. They would often smuggle goods from other countries or trade illegally with other colonies to evade taxes and maximize their profits. This allowed them to retain their wealth without having to give a portion of it to the British authorities.
The Members of Parliament believed that Virtual Representation worked. In short, they felt that saying that everyone in Parliament represented every person in the British Empire was a good plan. The colonists, however, wanted representatives who were there actually representing them. They wanted people chosen by New Englanders, Middle-Colonists and Southerns in Parliament along with people from India and the rest of the Empire.
Because the War was actually against the French and Indians against the British and American colonies. The Americans were having problems with the Indians. They were taking stuff from the Indians, like food, clothes, ect. And the French and British were having problems too. So the French and Indians decided to be Allies and fight against the British and American colonies while they were allies. Extra: The War came before the American Revolution so that's why the British and Americans were allies. Later they became enemies because America wanted it's independence.
England stationed British soldiers in the colonies because there was much rebellion and a growing tension in the colonies over British taxes(Stamp Act, Tea Act, Sugar Act, Townshed acts) . Britan wanted to make sure that the colonies remanied under control and they did not want a rebellion to start. The soldiers stationed there were called 'lobsterbacks' by the patriots (colonists who disagreed with taxes and wanted freedom from Britan). This was not that helpful by having the soldiers there-it reminded people that they were controlled and taxed by Britan and urged them to rebel. Soldiers from Britan were teased by patriots and this teasing lead to the first act of rebellion-the Boston Massacre. -roundrupert
no because the british cant be in another continent or country and be giving them rules that the colonies dont want to folllow. the colonies can make thier own rules. they also cant tax them on what is not useful. and the colonies cant oay taxes for what they dont know

A war between the Americans and British in 1775-1783. The Colonists were fighting for freedom on the new world(America). The Colonists (America) won the war by having a good leader, hope, and a defensive method to keep their troops alive. It is the war that that had the 13 colonies gain their independence from England.
The Colonists felt that they were justified in refusing to obey certain British laws and officials. With the Stamp act, they were being taxed without having any say in the government that was taxing them. They also did not need the British soldiers telling them what to do, because they felt they were no longer British citizens.
Colonists naturally prefer to run their own colonies, rather than having them run by a distant colonial power which cares only for the profit it can extract from the colony.

There was no US during the French and Indian War!!!The French and their Indian allies were fighting the British. Since the 13 colonies were British colonies the French were fighting the colonies. In fact George Washington served as a major in the militia of the British colony of Virginia during the French and Indian War fighting against the French. After the British won, they imposed taxes on the colonists to pay for having defended them against the French. The British also placed troops in the colonists homes to defend against any later attacks. These were two of the actions that later led to the American Revolution.
German mercenaries called Hessians were hired to help the British fight in the colonies. Although this was not a popular move with the British people, Britain had no choice after having never replenished its army to previous numbers following the Seven Years War.
After the French and Indian war the British were having trouble paying for all of the warfare, therefore the British unfairly taxed the colonies to help pay for it.
