A fully electronic shutter would mean the sensor is always exposed to the light, and the sensor itself turns on/off to control "shutter speed".

The Problem: Good digital sensors are extremely precise and extremely sensitive electronic components. Direct exposure to the sun for a couple of seconds would damage them. Direct exposure to the sun for minutes would likely burn them out completely.

The Answer:

Sensors need a physical light barrier from the sun (a mechanical shutter), or they will burn out.

What are two ways you can get pictures from a digital camera to a computer?

i have windows vista i cannot download from digital camera to PC

Can a film camera can convert to digital camera?

No. You cannot economically convert a film camera to a digital camera. The digital system is very different and fitting it to an existing film camera is more expensive than buying a new digital camera. Some of the more expensive professional cameras can change between film and digital backs replacing the film transport with digital technology. The replacement backing includes all the electronics and controls typical of a digital camera of that caliber.

Can you go to a Digital Camera store and get deleted photos and videos retrieved?

no you cannot unless you had downloaded them on a PC

Differences between Film Camera and Digital Camera?

The simplest answer is that a film camera uses light-sensative film and a chemical process to create a photograph while a digital camera uses electronic circuitry to create a computer file of an image.

Can the Laserjet 8150dn be used for digital photography?

"No. The Laser Jet 8159dn is a printer, not a digital camera. As such, it cannot be used for digital photography. However, it can be digitally photographed, and it can also be used to print photos."

Why is a digital camera better?

There are many advantages to using a digital camera. Here are a few: A digital camera let's you know right away whether you've shot the photo as you want it. With film you have to wait until the film is processed to know whether the picture turned out the way you intended. A digital camera does not require the expense of film, processing, and printing (which adds up to a lot of money if you shoot photos often). A ditigal camera lets you save photos electronically, which takes less space than the prints or slides you get from a film camera. The electronic images from a digital camera can be e-mailed to others. If you use a film camera, you have to turn the slide or print into a digital format before you can e-mail it. Film cameras give a fixed image, it is not possible to tamper with the negative or slidert after processing, so film images may be relied on in court evidence. Digital cameras retain information in their internal memories even after formatting (I know, I have tried it!), so very secret areas have to have their own dedicated cameras which cannot be used outside those areas or film has to be used. In some cases, film images are more stable than digital images for long term storage. Some early forms of digital storage cannot now be read because the drives are no longer available.

Where can I find nice digital cameras?

American electronics has the best replacements you will find. I bought a Canon digital camera there a year ago and I absolutely cannot leave home without it now.

What part of the human eye corresponds to the lens of the camera?

The iris. - - - - - No. It's the eyelid. The shutter's function is to completely stop light from reaching the film (or the sensor, if you have a digital camera with a mechanical shutter). The iris in your eye cannot do this--only the eyelid can.

Can a canon powerShot A2200 digital camera work as a webcam?

The canon A360 powershot cannot be used as a webcam. It was not intended or designed to be used that way.

What is the difference between Digital and CCD cameras?

Until about ten years ago cameras used film -- clear plastic with a coating that is sensitive to light. The camera exposed light from the scene onto the film which was later removed from the camera and put in chemicals to cause the images to appear. This chemical process is called developing the film. Some professional photographers, serious amateurs, and people who have not yet bought a digital camera still use film cameras. I assume these film cameras are what you are calling 'normal.' Digital cameras create images by light from the scene onto electronic sensors which convert the light falling on them to signals that can be recorded in digital files the way computer data is recorded. These files can then be transferred to computers to be printed.

What was the first digital camera?

The first one that I had seen was about ten years ago and it was put out by casio-the resolution was 640x480 and it had a 2mb internal memory and sold for about a thousand dollars. ------------------------ 9-07-2006 Digital camera technology is directly related to and evolved from the same technology that recorded television images. In 1951, the first video tape recorder (VTR) captured live images from television cameras by converting the information into electrical impulses (digital) and saving the information onto magnetic tape. Bing Crosby laboratories (the research team funded by Crosby and headed by engineer John Mullin) created the first early VTR and by 1956, VTR technology was perfected (the VR1000 invented by Charles P. Ginsburg and the Ampex Corporation) and in common use by the television industry. Both television/video cameras and digital cameras use a CCD (Charged Coupled Device) to sense light color and intensity. During the 1960s, NASA converted from using analog to digital signals with their space probes to map the surface of the moon (sending digital images back to earth). Computer technology was also advancing at this time and NASA used computers to enhance the images that the space probes were sending. Digital imaging also had another government use at the time that being spy satellites. Government use of digital technology helped advance the science of digital imaging, however, the private sector also made significant contributions. Texas Instruments patented a film-less electronic camera in 1972, the first to do so. In August, 1981, Sony released the Sony Mavica electronic still camera, the camera which was the first commercial electronic camera. Images were recorded onto a mini disc and then put into a video reader that was connected to a television monitor or color printer. However, the early Mavica cannot be considered a true digital camera even though it started the digital camera revolution. It was a video camera that took video freeze-frames. Since the mid-1970s, Kodak has invented several solid-state image sensors that "converted light to digital pictures" for professional and home consumer use. In 1986, Kodak scientists invented the world's first megapixel sensor, capable of recording 1.4 million pixels that could produce a 5x7-inch digital photo-quality print. In 1987, Kodak released seven products for recording, storing, manipulating, transmitting and printing electronic still video images. In 1990, Kodak developed the Photo CD system and proposed "the first worldwide standard for defining color in the digital environment of computers and computer peripherals." In 1991, Kodak released the first professional digital camera system (DCS), aimed at photojournalists. It was a Nikon F-3 camera equipped by Kodak with a 1.3 megapixel sensor. The first digital cameras for the consumer-level market that worked with a home computer via a serial cable were the Apple QuickTake 100 camera (February 17 , 1994), the Kodak DC40 camera (March 28, 1995), the Casio QV-11 (with LCD monitor, late 1995), and Sony's Cyber-Shot Digital Still Camera (1996).

Where can digital cameras be bought on discount?

If you wanted a digital camera, you could buy them from the store that sells them and get a coupon or you could buy them from the internet. Some brands of cameras cannot be bought with a discount. If your brand that you are looking for can, then use the discount.
