there are parts of the body that demand fat... like the fat pads under your eyebrows... there are also fat pads behind the eyeballs. under the skin there are layers of fat for insulation and protection. for instance if a womans body fat% gets too low she will stop menstruating signaling to the body that there is not enough food around to support another life, basically. this is seen in some gymnasts
