∙ 10y agoThe swastika is a symbol used by many people from ancient times. It was used by Indians as a lucky mark. Hitler, following the nazi notion of an "Aryan race", which included the Hindi speaking Indians, appropriated the swastika for the Nazi party, presumably as a symbol of good luck and "Aryan" values. Both directions (clockwise and counterclockwise) have been used in India, but now most Hindus use the varient that is the mirror image of that used by the Nazis.
