It was a stoke of Destiny that Mohandas Karam Chand Gandhi was called Father of the Nation whereas the country got freedom because of him only but because millions of martyrs' sacrifices and of a number of visionaries who worked for the independence of the country much before Gandhi was born even.

It was a very clever political thought of Nehru and his associates to call Gandhi the Father of the Nation to avoid political disturbances at a time when they had just seen their dreams fulfilled and had started tasting the fruits of freedom to rule.
Gandhiji is known as father of nation in India. Since Gandhiji was the main leader in non violence fight with British and most importantly He was the secular person by thought, by act.

He is called "The Father Of The Nation" because if he had not spoken up we would still be having the problems today, that should have been resolved long ago.

Cause of gandhiji did great national work for indian people.

Because he made everyone get hope and made them strong and tough with a nonviolence plan but failed and was also thanked and given the name mahatma, He is a very important person. That is why he is the father of the nation!

Also because he is a peace maker and gave people the chance at equality. He stood up for fighting without violence and had many quotes such as A woman is a man's superior.

Mahatma Ghandi was called "The Father Of The Nation" because if he had not spoken up, the same problems would be prevalent today, that should have been resolved long ago. Mahatma Gandhi influenced many people to start believing in non-violence and push the British Laws using words and non-violence.
