Although Wikipedia is right 99% of the time, it can be easily user edited so some things may not be completely correct. Often times you'll find that dates are different for the same event listed on a different page, and this is because anyone can change something.

I am a Professor of Medicine at Harvard University, and my students have been using Wikipedia for years. It is a very credible and good source. Not to mention but that its a great and a reliable source.
Wikipedia is considered a reliable source because each article must undergo a rigorous review process, with many professional reviewers involved. Is the ideal place to start your research and get a global picture of a topic. Is always good check the facts we find in Wikipedia against other sources but Wikipedia is as accurate or more accurate than more traditional encyclopedias.

Wikipedia is user edited. Therefore anyone can put anything on there. For example: in 4th grade someone asked my teacher where spaghetti came from, and (joking, of course) he told them that it grew on trees. He then proceeded to make a wikipedia article about how spaghetti grows on trees. However, there is still lots of correct information, and lots of credible sources.
