the ship's aft is safer than the forward bcos if the ship sinks or capsizes in most cases the stem will go into the water first .... so there is a greater possibility of escaping if a person is in the aft of the ship...
The Bridge is forward and aft steering is refered to as after steering station.
The stern is the back end of the ship, the bow is the front end of the ship. Aft means close to or toward the stern of the ship eg Move the luggage aft Forward means close to or toward the bow of a ship. eg Move the luggage forward
Its the back. Fore is toward the front (forward) and aft is toward the rear. If something is running "fore and aft" is is parallel to the centerline of the ship. Like the line of masts in a multi-masted ship.
it is the middle of the ship. not the front part of it (forward or FWD), not the back of it (aft).
It is top looking down. The left side of a vessel (ship or aircraft) is port side.
In ship building a seam that runs forward and aft not side to side.
The right when looking forward from the aft of the vessel
The stern of the ship is aft, mister!
* A ship has a port side which is on the left when facing forward or toward the bow. * The bow is not a side of the ship. It is only forward or the bow. * A ship has a starboard side which is on the right when facing forward or toward the bow. No matter which side, Port or Starboard, your backside faces the ship's stern, not the ship's backside. * The stern is not a side of the ship. It is only the stern or aft. Aft exists only because it follows for as in forward and aft as in after. * There is a topside. You may go topside. You do not outside, you go on deck. * There is no bottomside however you may go below, or even below deck. * In the galley you do not ask for and will not receive a side of anything. You will take what Cookie gives you.
The ends of a ship are fore (the front) and aft (the rear), the sides of a ship are port (the left-hand side of a ship as one faces forward) and starboard (the right-hand side of a ship as one faces forward)
The rear of a ship is called the stern aft To go to the rear is called going aft. The aft most part is the stern The rear of a ship or boat is called the "Aft" or the "aft end". Examples: "Take that line aft!". "When we turn, are you sure the aft end will clear that bouy?" Also nautically, "avast"The stern is the aft part of a ship or boat.
The " front "or forward part of a ship is called the bow the "back" or aft part of a ship is called the sternThe front of a ship is called the 'bow' or the 'prow'. The back of a ship is called the 'stern'.
