Check the gas filter it could be plugged (The gas filter has been checked and recently changed, because that's what we thought was happening.. but did not fix the problem.)
Does anyone else have suggestions on what this problem might be?
Your torque converter lock up clutch (TCC) solenoid is sticking. This is common on these cars and others with the TH125C transmission. The part costs about $40 and the gasket another $5-10. You can change the parts in your driveway in about 90 minutes.

If it is the 4cylinder 4x4 then the tires are either 225/75/r15, or 31x10.50xr15

There are two routes you can take: HIGHWAY 407 ETR - EAST (which is a TOLL ROAD) to HIGHWAY 400 or you can take either HIGHWAY 403 & HIGHWAY 401 to HIGHWAY 400 (non-tolled). I would recommend taking HIGHWAY 407 ETR because it is faster, as there is far, far less traffic and potential for traffic congestion that will affect your driving efficiency. They are both the same distance: 145 km taking either of these routes:If you want to take the faster, tolled route (recommend), this is the route to take:Take HIGHWAY 407 ETR - EAST, from Burlington (EXIT 80 off HIGHWAY 403; EXIT 100 off QEW), to HIGHWAY 400 - NORTH to BARRIE off EXIT 66.Take HIGHWAY 400 - NORTH to Barrie. If you want to take the non-tolled route (alternate), this is the route to take:Take HIGHWAY 403 - EAST (towards TORONTO), from Hamilton to HIGHWAY 401 - EAST to TORONTO.Take HIGHWAY 401 - EAST to HIGHWAY 400 - NORTH to BARRIE.Take HIGHWAY 400 - NORTH to Barrie.
The best way is to use a highway map, either a conventional map or an online map source such as googlemaps.com or mapquest.com .
