To effectively cover more skin, which isn't smooth at the microscopic level, much less in places where it folds into fingerprints, palmprints etc.

It's analogous to soap lowering water's surface tension to more effectively clean skin, besides interacting with apolar molecules, but that's besides the point.

Does gasoline have a low surface tension?

yes it is lower than the surface tension of water

Why does low-surface-tension-liquids-clean-better than high-surface-tension-liquids?

Low surface tension means high wetting as it represents low contact angle. It is therefore very easy for a low surface tension water / liquid to wet the surface ( usually solid) and get rid of the dirty in a same way a surfactant does unlike a high surface tension liquid which can't wett the surface containing the dirty.... Does water have a relatively high or low surface tension?

MERCURY has a higher surface tension than water. This highest surface tension between liquids is 487 mN/m at 15 0C.

Does water have a low surface tension?

Water has a relatively high surface tension compared to other liquids, due to hydrogen bonding.

Why does water have a low viscosity?

it because water has a light surface tension

What is wetting in dentistry?

It has to do with adhesion in dentistry. Wetting depends on the surface property and surface tension. Wetting also is a qualitative description of contact angle. When you have a high surface tension you have low wetability, a large contact angle and low surface energy. And the opposite for a low surface tension. When two objects are very different in their energies you have less wetting such as water and wax. If metal is the solid (metal has a high surface energy) then wetting is increased.

What is a force that acts on particles at a liquids surface?

Surface tension. It always tends to acquire minimum surface area thats why water droplets form spherical shape.

What is the value of surface tension of glycerol solution?

It is calculated to be 0.073N/m at room temperature 21'C.

Do liquids that have higher tension produce drops that are flatter or more nearly sperical ttan liquids with lowersurface tension?

Surface tension causes molecules to hold to themselves more tightly. Therefore high surface tension liquids, like pure water, will form a taller drop and low surface tension substances, like oil, will spread out and be flat.

Types of penetrating liquid used in liquid penetrant test?

Low molecular weight hydrocarbons - anything with a very low surface energy/contact angle/surface tension.

Surface Tension is found in what?
