CFC's are actually not related to global warming at all. They are used as coolants in refrigerators and propellants in spray cans. CFC's damage the ozone layer, which protects living organisms on Earth from the suns UV rays. So CFC's are not a factor of global warming.

But CO2, carbon dioxide, is trapped in the Earth's atmosphere. Since the Earth absorbs the suns rays and more CO2 is formed (from people burning fossil fuels), this makes the worlds temperature become warmer.

How do human activities affect the global warming and ozone depletion?

Humans burning fossil fuels are causing global warming. This is continuing unchecked and is causing climate change. Human production of CFCs (now stopped) was responsible for ozone depletion. The ozone layer is very slowly recovering.

How did the hole in ozone layer occur and is it related to global warming?

The hole in the ozone layer came about because of the artificially produced gases CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons). These contained chlorine and bromine which destroyed ozone. CFCs are now banned. The ozone hole has very little to do with global warming.

What does ethanol do to the ozone layer?

Burning ethanol releases Carbon Dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas which is causing global warming. It has very little to do with the ozone layer, which was damaged last century by chlorine and bromine from CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons), released from aerosols and refrigeration.

What is Global Warming and is it happening on the Earth?

Global warming is an observed increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans. The average global temperature has increased by around 0.75 degrees Celsius since the start of the Industrial Age. Part of this increase may be due to natural processes, and would have occurred independently of human activity. However, the consensus of most climate scientists is that global warming is substantially the result of human activities. They say that global warming is being caused by an enhanced greenhouse effect, resulting from an increase in atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases. Gases that contribute to global warming include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), and halocarbons (the replacements for CFCs). The carbon dioxide emissions are primarily from the use of fossil fuels for energy and from deforestation. Global warming is real and is happening to the earth. Governments and individuals around the world are becoming alarmed at the potential harm that can result from global warming, and are taking action to reduce our carbon emissions.

Does the CO2 in carbonated beverages have any effect on global warming?

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a powerful greenhouse gas that is contributing to global warming. There are other greenhouse gases caused by human activity, namely Nitrous Oxide, methane, and some CFCs. All these greenhouse gases are causing an enhanced greenhouse effect which is causing global warming.Deforestation is another cause. Before they were cut down, forests removed large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Oxygen was released, and the carbon was stored in the trees. Almost 50% of a tree is carbon.

Was global warming caused by CFCs and a hole in the ozone layers?

Global warming was not originally caused by CFC's. However they are also a reason behind it.

Ozone depletion is caused by global warming?

No, ozone depletion was caused by CFCs in the atmosphere.

What gasses cause global warming?

Methane, carbon dioxide, CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons).

Does CFC's cause Global warming?

Actually CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons) don't do much to cause global warming. CFCs destroy ozone, and may cause problems concerning the UV rays coming through the atmosphere. Global warming has to do with carbon dioxide levels and temperature.

Do fire crackers affect the ozone layer?

No, it is responsible for global warming and air pollution but not for depletion of CholoroFluoroCarbons (CFCs)

Is global warming causing cancer?

No, there are no suggestions that global warming will cause cancer. The depletion of the ozone layer, which is still being caused by CFCs from last century does cause cancer. Skin cancers (basal and squamous cell carcinomas) and melanomas are caused by the dangerous ultra-violet radiation which a weakened ozone layer lets through.

What is ozone depletion and global warming?

Ozone depletion is the way the ozone layer is weakened by attacks from the chlorine and bromine molecules in CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons).Global warming is the recent (200 year) warming of the earth caused by man's burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in industry, transport and the generation of electricity.
