Check under your seats, there is a sensor cable. It maybe disconnected.
You have + and - on batteries, the polarities have to be in the same direction or the current won't flow.

Two six volt batteries in series makes 12 volts so switch the charger to the 12 volt position.

Well fixing would be hard but try to find the manual override to get the belts moving in a safe position then get it to an mechanic.
Either it is defective or not getting the right input from the engine control module.
The easiest way I have found to do this is to use a "C" clamp on the brake cylinder and slowly squeeze it to retract the piston to the retracted position.
The latest Flip cameras can use battery packs or 2 AA batteries. Slide the lock for the battery compartment on the bottom of the camera to the unlocked position. The panel should then slide down and lift off allowing access to the battery compartment for replacing the batteries.
