Best Answer

Active 3D televisions are made by the premium manufacturers and therefore will tend to be more than the passive models made by LG and Vizio.

They are also higher performance with full HD resolution even in 3D mode compared to the 540 line resolution offered with the LG range. As with many products, better performance normally means a higher price.

Why are the 3D TV glasses so heavy and expensive?

Active 3D glasses require batteries and had a reputation for being heavy. Modern glasses weigh in at as little as 23 grams (under one ounce) so they are not heavy. At under $20 per pair for some active glasses, they aren't expensive either.

Are the 3D glasses for LG cinema 3D TV expensive like others. How much are they?

LG glasses are passive polarizing glasses so they should be very cheap. Active glasses, as used by most other manufacturers are somewhat more expensive but prices for active glasses are falling rapidly.

Will the active 3D glasses work with passive 3D tv We have an LG passive 3D TV and we need extra ones My friend has an active 3D TV though so I was wondering if I can just borrow his glasses.?

Active 3d glasses will not work with passive 3d TV. Active glasses use shutter 3D technology that requires a power source to power the lenses in the glasses. Passive glasses don't have electronics or batteries. Hence, they are lighter and more comfortable. Active and passive TV work using completely different technology and thus active glasses cannot work on passive TV.

Do all active 3d TVs require a emitter?

Every active 3D television operates with glasses that switch each eye on and off rapidly and in time with the left and right images being displayed on the screen. To make sure that the glasses operate at the right time, they require a synchronizing signal that is delivered from the television. The emitter is the source of the signal so it is a vital part of any 3D active television.

Do 3d tv's damage your eyes?

All 3D televisions can cause tiredness and discomfort for some people. LG claim that active 3D televisions are more likely to do so but that might be because they don't make active 3D television, just the lower resolution passive televisions. Before buying a 3D television, it is important to spend some time to watch and experience a range of televisions. The models that are comfortable, offer a natural looking image in 3D and 2D ar the ones to add to your short list.

Can you use an active 3d glasses on a normal led tv or can i change the coding to make it 3d?

No, and no. 3D televisions have high speed video image processors to manipulate the incoming signal and generate two separate images. Other televisions simply don't have the processing facility to generate the images. Active 3D glasses rely on signals from a 3D television to operate so they would not operate at all with a 2D television. If you don't own a 3D television the only way to watch the latest 3D content is to go visit a friend who does own one.

3D TV glasses are so expensive. Are there any glasses which are available in lesser price?

Glasses for 3D television can be expensive. But remember that when you bought a 3D television, you were investing in a premium product and you were seeking performance rather than price. Any television purchase based just on price would be a low cost 2D television. Having invested in a nice 3D television, make sure you maintain the quality of the image with the correct glasses for it.

What is a comfortable 3D TV that's also a full HD 3D TV?

There are two type of 3D television currently available. LG uses a passive type while most other manufacturers use an active type. Full HD resolution is only obtained by active models as the passive types split the 1080 lines between the eyes with an effective resolution of only 540 lines. So, for full HD in 3D, you need to be looking for active types.

What is Light Boost Technology?

It is a technology unique in LG's Cinema 3D that corrects for the light lost by its polarizing shutter system across the screen. Other active 3D systems do not have any shutter system on the screen and therefore lose no light.

Can you use 3d glasses TV for theather?

Maybe. There are 2 kinds of 3D televisions: active 3D and passive 3D. The active sets use glasses with special shutters that are synchronized to the TV. These will not work in a movie theatre. The passive sets use polarized light, which is the same system that is used in movie theatres, but your TV may use a different polarization scheme than the movie, so you would (for example) have to hold your head at a 45-degree angle to see the movie in 3D.

Why are battery free 3D TV glasses better?

Battery free glasses for 3D are better if they are being used with passive 3D televisions. LG only have passive 3D television so the battery free glasses work with them. The other premium brands such as Samsung, Sony etc all use active 3D and their glasses are battery powered. The active glasses are far better for use with active televisions because the battery free glasses won't work with them. Previous criticisms of active glasses were weight and battery life. With the weight below one ounce and battery life of over 100 hours, neither of these are issues any more.

Is it true that passive 3d tvs are better than active 3d tvs and which one is the best passive 3d tv?

No it isn't. Passive television splits alternate lines to each eye so effectively they reduce the resolution to only 540 lines. That's even worse than standard definition of 576 lines. LG make passive 3D televisions. They are one of the only manufacturers that make passive 3D televisions so by default they are perhaps the best. If you want to get a television with 3D resolution below even SD televisions, the LG is definitely the one to go for. Of course, you might want to look at the active 3D televisions made by almost every other manufacturer before you spend money on an LG.
