You need to remove the liner on the trunk lid. That will give you access to the license plate lights housing. Remove the sockets by twisting 1/4 turn and replace bulbs. Size for bulbs are 2825
Xenon bulbs give off whiter light than Halogen bulbs, which give off a more yellow tint. Also, Halogen bulbs give off more heat than Xenon bulbs.

Your best bet in locating the replacement bulbs in a recalled item is to go to the manufacturer. The company that distributes the Lights , such as a local hardware store or home improvement warehouseÊmaybe able to give you some history regarding the replacement bulbs as well as why the item was recalled.
Incandescent lights are expensive to run (they give off a lot of heat was well as light), incandescent lights are much more efficient. However modern LED light bulbs are better (more efficient) than both incandescent and fluorescent lights so in the future you will see a change to the use of these.
You may have a bulb that that brunt a element which than crossed the other element cause all lights to come on a one time. I have seen this before. If this does not light all bulbs when the brakes are applied, then I would be looking in the front lights, if it does I would look in the back lights.
Lights vary tremendously in power, but the normal incandescent bulb takes 100 watts. Low energy bulbs can give the same light at 20 watts
