Because all three of those types of organisms need energy
Photosynthetic plants. They go through a process called photosynthesis where water, carbon dioxide and the sun's light energy is used to produce oxygen and glucose (sugar). Herbivores (consumers) then eat plants to obtain this source of energy to maintain their own lives which they are eventually (maybe) eaten by a carnivore (consumer) So if plants didn't exist nor could herbivores and carnivores.
I think there are supposed to be an equal amount as well as plants the herbivores eat. This is to maintain an equilibrium so no side makes the other extinct. I think this holds true to the point of an outside factor. Weather killing a large amount of plants could affect an ecosystem by having a lack of food for the herbivores. They may die off leaving little to no food for the carnivores. I think it's all about equilibrium so there should not be more carnivores than herbivores and vice versa.
Life is powered by sunlight. The energy used by most living cells comes ultimately from the sun. Plants, algae, and some bacteria use energy from sunlight, particularly blue and red wavelengths, to build molecules which later can be split through cellular respiration to retrieve some of that energy. Storing energy in molecules and then oxidizing those molecules to retrieve the stored energy maintains all life on Earth. Plants are often called ‘producers’ because they produce energy-storing molecules used by almost all other organisms on Earth. By eating plants, herbivores ‘steal’ these energy-storing molecules to maintain their own life processes. By eating animals, carnivores ‘plunder’ the molecules that store the energy oringinally captured by plants. By feeding on dead tissue, decomposers exploit whatever molecules remain in the dead the plants, herbivores, and carnivores. Ultimately, the process of photosynthesis is the most important chemical reaction on Earth.
Most of all without producers, all other organisms would die: because the consumers would not be able to eat the producer, and then the predators who are at the top of the food chain, would have no source of food, which would lead to the death of all organisms. Producers are most definitely vital to life, and is of great importance to the existence of living organisms ..<3 ChellyWellyBellyFrom Belize :)15 years old.

Most organisms serve a purpose in their selected environments, with the exception of a select few that could be disputed(mosquitos). One of birds many roles is to serve the purpose of dispersing the seeds of vegetables and fruit that they eat so the plant can become more widespread and abundant. Most herbivores help plants out this way actually. Furthermore, herbivores are fed upon by carnivores. Allowing the carnivores to continue their life cycles as well. Ultimately, our environment depends on these animals so we can maintain a healthy existence as well. How would you like to live in a land without trees, grass, bullfrogs and cats? They all play a part in a much larger picture, and this is why their existence needs to be maintained.

Carnivores are important because they maintain the world balanced. For example: If there were no carnivores alive the what would the Omnivores eat? Only grass? Yes but it wouldn't be enough food for them. Hope my answer helped you Rita
Periodic fires and heavy grazing by large herbivores maintain the characteristic plant community
It encompasses a broad area. Actually they are the essential part of the Food Chain and Food Web. The Plants are also known as Primary Producers in the food chain hierarchy. They yield food to the herbivores and also they produce Oxygen as vital element for sustenance of living organisms. The animals also known as Primary Consumers are the ones that consume the herbivores and in turn maintain the biological balance in the biosphere.

by safeguarding that the producers i.e. plants don't have too much stress put on them by the herbavores
Under the direction of the Secretary of Agriculture, the FOR makes multiyear loans to wheat producers to maintain reserve stocks.
