The name comes from the small tropical and subtropical lizards of the family Gekkonidae, having toes padded with setae containing numerous suction cups that enable them to climb on vertical surfaces.
I live in Vietnam surrounded by Geckos. The name comes from the sound large Geckos make, which sounds similar to the word gecko. "geec...koooo"
