Because after the sun lets it photosynthesis, herbivores need it to survive. Actually, they are nowhere near the top of the food chain, as the term is usually used. They are at the bottom.
a hawk can be at the top of the food chain. Also a owl can be at the top of the food chain.
There are 4 basic levels to a tropical rainforest food chain. They are the primary producers (plants, flowers, fruits, leaves), the primary consumers (frogs, fish, possums, birds), first level carnivores (snakes, platypus, owls), and second level carnivores (crocodiles, pythons, feral dogs and cats).
There isnt as many food sources. More plants and fish live at the top becuase there is sunlight. And when there is sunlight there is food.
Nothing else will eat you. It is a general term to say you are the most powerful, there is no one better than you, something is dominant, etc.
Top soil is the layer in which is found organic matterfrom dead and decaying organisms. By their decomposition, these organisms contribute to the supply of the 17-18 nutrients that are needed for healthy soils to support healthy plants. Many plants, such as edible food producers and grasses, have shallow roots whose home is in the top soil. They therefore depend upon the top soil for adequate supplies of soil air, moisture and nutrients. Likewise, plants depend upon top soil to provide protection to roots against environmental extremes and stresses. In the same vein, plants depend upon top soil for the soil food web life forms that encourage healthy plant growth. For example, bacterial glues and fungal threads group soil particles into air and water pore space friendly clumps. Proper air and moisture levels in soil encourage proper intake by plant roots of necessary nutrients and water. Plants thereby have what they need to interact with sunlight, through photosynthesis, to make energizing starches and sugars vital to plant processes. Ultimately, plants are more resistant to environmental stresses and stressors. And they produce healthier, more attractive plant parts what with the decreased dependence upon chemical controls. What it comes down to is good inputs, such as healthy top soil, make for good outputs, such as attractive, healthy plants.
An elephant only eats plants, so therefore an elephant is not top on the food chain. The elephant is above plants and below the top predators.
Producers are at the bottom of the food chain, tertiary consumers are at the top of the food chain.
Animals and plants are always invovled in a food chain. A food chain is a series of plants and animals each of which is eaten as food by the one above in the series. Humans are at the top of the food chain when only considering plants, or animals which humans kill and eat. However, the food chain can quickly change when a human puts him or herself too close to an alligator, shark, or any large, hungry predator.
Animals are usually at the top of a food chain. This is because they are consumers. Producers (plants) are at the bottom of the food chain. The producers are consumed by the primary consumers (herbivores) who are then consumed by the secondary consumers ( carnivores ).
plants do not eat animals obviously but they are at the top because plants are in everything burgers and the rest of food everything some how links to plants!
They start with plants as plants are the only producers (can make their own food) and the whole food chain depends on them. Without plants, there would be no primary consumers and that would mean no food for the secondary consumers and so on, disturbing the entire food chain! They start with plants because energy comes from the sun and plants are the only ones who can make food with that energy.
because other animals have a unknown substance in the blood
A bear on the top of the food chain.
a hawk can be at the top of the food chain. Also a owl can be at the top of the food chain.
I think that they are at the top of the food chain.
Top of the Food Chain was created in 1999.
is a sharks on top of the food chain
