How much efficient is geothermal energy?

It is usually not energy that is efficient or inefficient. Rather, the technology used to extract it may be efficient or inefficient. In the case of any heat energy, the upper limit to the efficiency is given by the Carnot equation for heat engines, and depends on the temperature of the heat source, as well as the environmental temperature.

Why do engines get discolored?

engines get discolored because of the heat . the heat comes from combustion from gass and air

Why is an incadescent bulb a very inefficient light source?

An incandescent light bulb is very inefficient light source because of the amount of heat energy wasted when it is energized.

Does heat engines use heat to do work?

by engine

Does car works on heat produced by petrol when it is burnt?

Yes. Gasoline and diesel engines are both heat engines.

Heat engines use heat to do work?

Yes. Heat engines come in various forms. For example, internal combustion using gasoline or diesel, external combustion (not much used), steam engines reciprocating or turbine, gas turbines, rocket engines.

How are heat engines classified?

heat engines are classified on the location of the combustion chamber , if it is outside the whole set up then it is external heat engine and vice versa.

Is a engine in a car the same as a heat engine?

A car engine is a heat engine, but there are various types of heat engines outside the realm of car and truck engines.

How much of the energy in petrol do petrol?

Even the most efficient petrol engines are quite inefficient at changing the chemical energy in the fuel to kinetic energy. Most becomes heat and some turns into sound. Somewhere in the region of 25% becomes turning force into the transmission.

Are gasoline and Diesel engines heat engines?

Yes, gasoline and diesel engines are heat engines. The energy released by the burning fuel causes the gas in the cylinders to expand and push the pistons, which in turn do work.
