Why are mobile phones popular with teenagers?

Teenagers have the need to experiment with social identity and groups. The mobile phone is a quick way to stay in contact and strengthen social bonding with friends. Furthermore the mobile phone gives the opportunity to 'fiddle' with something in the case of social insecurity, which most teenagers experience some time in their development.

And besides that: not only teenagers like to use the mobile phone. The global use of mobile phones by all ages is increasing every day.

It is probably that cellphones now can enable teens to do most of the things they are keen on, such as searching the internet, taking photos, texting, and playing games etc.

And sometimes, an "in" phone is a wonderful tool to give the information that "I keep track of fashion and I am able to lay my hands on it" to the other teens.

But what counts most is, from my own experience, we need a mobile phone, which may appear annoying with never ending calls and SMS, to prove we are cared by someone, to banish loneliness when we are missing someone, and to sleep with reassurance when we are away from those ones.
