I believe that moms are concerned about their daughters' weight because they think how is my daughter going to look on her big day? They want them to look and feel perfect.
There is also a lot of societal pressure for women to be slim, and although body shaming definitely happens with both genders, it is worse for women. As far as women accept and buy into that, and have children, they pass on that same attitude.
