They believe that children need to do well in school by studying well and making good friends, while parents just leave the children whatever they want.
Every generation feels some anger toward their parents. It's true! However, adults learn to settle differences and try to talk things out. Wanting your parents to be mean to their parents (your grandparents) sounds like you are angry about something your grandparents did or didn't do. It'd be much better to talk it out with your grandparents but in a respectful, caring manner.

Assuming the grandfather was the one who sexually abused your ex-husband, you have every right to be concerned. Your children's welfare is your responsibility. You should not let them be with him without supervision. But only because of abuse, and not because he is gay. If the grandfather was not the abuser, then you should have no worry. Many confuse homosexuality with pedophilia...don't, they're not the same thing. Gay people can be loving, caring parents and grandparents and pose no more risk to your children than heterosexual parents and grandparents.

I do know a good book for adult children who have lost both parents. NOBODY'S CHILD ANYMORE: Grieving, Caring, Comforting When Parents Die (Barbara Bartocci, Sorin Books).
All children are not same by nature. Some are very caring, while other hardly care for any one including parents. My experience about girls is very positive .they are caring, sincere, responsible, dedicated and hard working. Such girls(children) are very caring. As far as boys are concerned (my opinion may be biased) they are little lacking such qualities. It happens because of rearing and bearing of socilization processes. In almost all male dominated societies, girls are encouraged to do the things at their higher zeal, while boys are discouraged to do the same activities, which generally are done by girls in their homes. In society if we want to make caring children, make their good socilaization. Social hygenic is very important element of our personlity. Such socialized children would be most adjusted, intelligent and hard working. God bless parents ,who have made their children as very caring one.
