But it's not the same for estrogen. None of the kinds of estrogen (estradiol, etc) can be obtained without a prescription. The only kinds of feminine hormone medication that are available over the counter are like herbal preparations, with black cohosh and similar. If a product that is available OTC contains estrogen, it is phyto-estrogen (i.e. obtained from processing herbs and other plants).
