because Onion is a plant. Plant cells have a large vacuole in the centre of the cell which push the surrounding organelles and the nucleus towards the periphery. On the contrary, if you observe an animal cell you will find that the nucleus is situated right at the center because the vacuole is small comparatively and does not occupy a large space at the center.

Merely the growth of the large central vacuole. In young plants the vacuole is much smaller than the mature plant's cells. Storage? Catalytic activity increase? I am not sure exactly why ( memory lapse ) but mature plant cells have the large central vacuole developed enough to shove the nucleus toward the cell wall.

If Chloroplasts were in the middle of a plant cell less light would get to them. The closer chloroplasts are to the edge of the cell the more light they collect.

Where are the nucleus of a cell found in the cell?

The nucleus is not always in the center of the cell. It will be a big dark spot somewhere in the middle of all of the cytoplasm (cytosol). You probably won't find it near the edge of a cell because that might be a dangerous place for the nucleus to be.

Is the nucleus in the center of a cell?

It is not always in the center of the cell. No more than if the endoplasmic reticulum is found there. In some cell types it is found toward the edge. It may be due to what is actually in the cell.

How does the edge of the cheek cell compare with the edge of the onion cell?

Onion cells, like most plant cells, have rigid cell walls which give them a regular shape. They are stacked tightly in columns and rows. Cheek cells have and irregularly shaped cell membrane. and are squished together in layers.

What is the difference between an onion cell and a cheek cell?

Cheek cells are only found in animals, whereas onion cells are found in platns, particularly onion cells. Cheek cells, being animal cells, do not contain a cell wall as onion cells do becasue cell walls are found only in plant cells for structure and rigidness. Onion cells, unlike most plant cells, do not have chlorplasts becasue it does not need sunlight for photosynthesis as other plants do. Being grown underground, it receives nutrients directly from the soil, so chloraplasts are not evident. This is also why onions are never green, since chloroplasts contain chlorpohyll, a pigment which gives plants its green color. Basically, cheek cells are found in animals, and onion cells are found in plants.

Why is the nucleus near the edge of the cell?

Ninety percent of a plant is covered by the vacuoles in order to store food. For this reason, the plant cell nucleus is located on their side.

Where does the nucleus located in plant cell?

The plant cell has a cell wall outside the cell membrane which gives it a regular shape, unlike animal cells. Inside the plant cell, there is a large fluid filled sac called the vacuole which also helps to maintain the cell's shape and which takes up most of the space that in an animal cell is filled up by cytoplasm. In the little space remaining between the vacuole and the cell membrane, there is the cytoplasm, where the nucleus is found. So the nucleus in a plant cell is found at the edge in the cytoplasm close to the cell membrane!!

Why is the nucleus pushed to one side in adipose tissue?

Adipocytes contain a large droplet of lipid, which pushes the nucleus to the side of the cell.

What is the job of the nucleus and what is it like?

The cell nucleus acts like the brain of the cell. It helps control eating, movement, and reproduction. If it happens in a cell, chances are the nucleus knows about it. The nucleus is not always in the center of the cell. It will be a big dark spot somewhere in the middle of all of the cytoplasm (cytosol). You probably won't find it near the edge of a cell because that might be a dangerous place for the nucleus to be. If you don't remember, the cytoplasm is the fluid that fills cells.

Where are cell membrane found?

on the outer layer of the cell ----------------------------------------- The membrane is found around the edge of a cell - it encases the cell and controls what goes in and out of it. In plants, the membrane is protected by a thick cell wall.

What cell part is used to describe the outer edge of a frog blood cell?

Cell membrane

What is the general location of the nucleus in an Elodea cell?

The nucleus of an elodea cell is suspended in the cytoplasm within the cell wall. When the plant cell is well hydrated, the central vacuole swells with water and pushes the nucleus and chloroplasts toward the outer edge of the cell. In a poorly hydrated cell, the nucleus may be located any where within the cell.
