Elephants will knock down trees to get the better foliage on top. This also helps smaller animals get more food. Elephants will also strip bark from trees to eat it, sharpen their tusks, or to cut back the foliage. Elephants dig to find water in the dry season which will then make small watering holes to help other animals get water. So, by them destroying their environment they're actually helping other organisms.

∙ 10y agoMostly they are being hunted for their ivory tusks. Tusks are very valuable and the poachers kill the elephants just for the tusks and leave them there to die.
