The planets in our solar system are sometimes considered the Sun's Family due to the fact that they all orbit the sun (the star at the center of our solar system). When thinking about this also consider planets that do not orbit a star (rogue planets), so is the sun's family just relating to our solar system?
Another way to look at the term is the fact that all planets are 'children' of stars. During the life of a star, the heat and pressure turns light elements into heavy ones until Iron is formed. Once this happens, the death of the star in imminent and the star explodes, shooting its guts (all the elements created) into space which through the process of millions of years forms planets... and us! So everything can be considered the children of stars ;)
The sun and its family of orbiting planets is known as the solar system. The sun is a yellow dwarf star located at the center of the solar system, with eight known planets orbiting around it: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
"The Inner Planets" is the common term for the four planets closest to our sun.
It is called the solar system. Except that the sun has only 8 planets.
The inner planets
The planets closest to the sun are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.
The largest objects that orbit the sun are planets.
If you are talking about the planets that orbit our sun, that is called the solar system.
The planets around the sun move in a path called an orbit. This orbit is the result of the gravitational pull between the planets and the sun, causing them to travel in a curved path around the sun.
Perihelion
They are sometimes called minor planets (not mirror planets). They aren't planets really, but they are a bit like little planets orbiting the Sun.
because they are smaller and closer to the sun
The closest planet to the sun is Mercury. The order of planets is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Planets after Mars are much farther away from the sun then the Mars and the closer planets. The first four planets are called the inner planets. The last four are called the outer planets.
