Did you have the drums turned. There is usually a ridge on the inside of the drum caused by wear the needs to be machined.
Brakes cost about $80, and the price for manual labor for the installation of the brakes will probably cost at least another $80. You're probably going to pay at least $160, more likely $200.
Clutch needs adjusting or the synchronizers are going bad.Clutch needs adjusting or the synchronizers are going bad.
the abs light means you have a problem in your brake system it also means get it to a shop and have it fixed before the brakes fail and you are in a wreck as for feeling like it wants to go when the brakes are applied that in itself tells you there is a problem if the brakes are inadequate while stopped, how is it going to stop you in an emergency
If your brakes work going backwards better than forwards, you should replace your front brakes. You can get your rotors turned to save time, as well.
I know on Jeeps they use a soft rotor supposedly to quiet the brakes. The average mileage for their rotors is supposed to be around 13,000. I changed my rotors and have not had this problem since and I'm going on 30,000.
slowly push it along then pull the brakes, if it stops, THE BRAKES WORK!!! if it keeps going, THE BRAKES DON'T WORK!!! IT'S ROCKET SCIENCE!!!
Disc brakes dont need to be adjusted and all drum brakes are self-adjusting unless you have an antique..lol...if it is a newer vehicle and you think the rear drum brakes need adjusting then it is a good possibility that the self-adjuster isn't functioning properly. Try making a few hard stops going backwards on pavement as this may help. If it doesn't then take your vehicle to a qualified technician and let them handle it. If it is an older vehicle(referring to something that would be an antique with either 4 or 2 wheel drum brakes) then there should be a slot in the backing plate for you to adjust them. All you would have to do is get an adjuster(found at a local automotive store) place it in the slot and turn the star wheel downwards to tighten(use the opposite if the slot is in the drum and not the backing plate) do this until you feel slight resistance when you turn the drum.
The 1996 Ford Escort had a self-adjusting system. If pushing on the pedal will not solve the problem, you are most likely going to need to change the ratchet system in the pedal.
You wouldn't want to be going down an incline (a hill) and find you have no brakes!
you either need to bleed your brakes, add fluid or get a master cylinder darrellshandyman@live.com
Usually after brakes are changed, it takes time for it to break in. So the brakes wont be as "grippy" as before. If that does not solve your problem, then it might be because of air bubbles in the brake lines. Try bleeding the system. If that doesn't solve your problem, then it could be a problem with your calipers. You can fix it, but most people just get another one from the junk yard. Takes less time and it's cheap too. I was going to say it could be the master cylinder, but it wouldn't be. Because 240sx has a diagonal braking system. Which means if one cylinder fails then you would still have brakes in front right and rear left OR vice versa.
It has been adjusting well. There are many trade agreements going into affect and the Russian people seem to be embracing it.
