The Bible says that those who seek silver are not satisfied with silver. Unlike food, there's no natural limit to the amount of "silver" (i.e., wealth) one can use. There is always to same drive to accummulate. Of course the rich don't look on this as "greed," to them, getting more is simply continuing the wise practices that got them (or their ancestors) the wealth in the first place.
An old saying has it that, "Where you stand depends on where you sit," meaning that one's philosophy is influenced by one's position in society. People who have not enough (or less than they desire) tend to look upon those who keep amassing wealth as "greedy" but those who have a great deal tend to develop the idea that something about them deserves it all and that getting even more is simply the right thing to do.
