The reason for this is a protective measure in that if something happened to one, you have a back up to rely on. If one lung were to collapse because of a crush type injury, the other lung would have to work twice as hard to provide the same amount of oxygen to the body, but you would survive.
*********** Actually, that's not it. If that's the case, wouldn't we have 2 stomaches, 2 brains, etc. Read my blog:You need to have two lungs because it balances your heart rate when you run or exercise your heart muscles. They work as a filter taking in Oxygen and spreading it to keep your body working at a steady rate. Imagine how hard it is to run 4 miles if you were running that much you are using it and need more air than you had before if u were walking and you could not catch your breath
There are two bronchi because there are two lungs in the human body. The bronchi are responsible for allowing the air to go from the mouth and nose into the lungs.
Two lungs function more efficiently by increasing the speed at which oxygen is absorbed and co2 is expelled.
They are different because the left lung is smaller than the right lung.
Nature is kind and considerate. You are blessed with extra capacity in most of the organ systems.
yes, yes they do :/
a human has two lungs one one each side of the chest (:
Yes, hamsters have two lungs.
If you have 3 liters of air in your lungs and 2 tenths of that is oxygen, how many milliliters of oxygen are in your lungs?
it is impossible 2 no 4 sure cause lungs rot but it is thougt that they have 2

Lungfish have 2 lungs but the Australian lungfish has 1.
The bronchial tubes connect the trachea and the lungs. Air moves through these tubes into and out of the lungs.
they use their gills, skin, and later in life they use their lungs :)
