Actually, the questions are not stupid for the most part. A lot of people just genuinely don't know things that you think they probably should know. So everyone has to start somewhere. It is normal to be curious and want to know why things are as they are.

Yes, it absolutely works. Some questions although sadly don't ever get answered or are vandalised. Sometimes, with the millions of questions on this site, it is just too hard for all questions to be answered. If you want quicker results, I suggest you put it in the correct categories. Try not to put it into the uncategorized category unless there is absolutely no category for the question which is highly unlikely with the thousands of categories.
