Both Hinduism and Buddhism are founded on peace. In Christianity and Islam, killing the unholy people gets you free passes to heaven. In Hinduism and Buddhism, a lifetime of peace and meditation get you to Nirvana, their heavenly state.

There is also less examination into Hindu and Buddhist fanaticism because of the way these movements look in the modern age. Buddhism and Hinduism have both had violent strains. The former saw its more fanatic and violent warrior monks in the Sengaku Jidai Period of Japanese History and the latter saw the violent occupation and removal of the Dravidians from Northern India during the Aryan Occupation.

Buddha was against a few practices of Hinduism, like sacrifices, rituals, and castes. But he emphasized on the concept of 'dharma' just like hindus. Hinduism and Buddhism did not fight each other. Actually, for a long period of time Buddhism was like a sect of Hinduism.
Someone has mentioned that Sri Lankan main religion is Hinduism. Please do not comment wrong statements about Sri Lankan Religion or History.There are few religions in Sri Lanka, such as Buddhism, Roman Catholic, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism . But SRI LANKAN MAIN RELIGION IS BUDDHISM.
