The wild yak is important, because, their fur is used to make wool, and keeps us warm. They are most important in Mongolia, where their fur is used for clothing, acsessories, and blankets, their hides are used to make the fabric that the Mongolian nomads use to make tents, their bones are made into needles, and weapons, and their meat, is eaten. So, in Mongolia, people find a lot more use in wild yaks then we Americans do, and no part of the animal is left unused.
