because it may cause irritation to your eyes
Use a magnet to lift out the iron filings.
Copper Sulfide
One can easily confirm the presence of charcoal powder in Mno2 by heating on a charcoal block
H2 (g) + FeSO4 (s) hydrogen gas and iron sulphate
We can observe small particles of iron and sulfur.
When temerature is high enough: Fe + S --> FeS (+ heat, energy)
Heating a mixture of sulfur powder and iron fillings will produce Generation of black iron sulfide (FeS) because of insufficient oxidation of sulfur into the iron oxide +3, and Fe2O3 iron sulfide is black, not yellow over iron sulfide (FeS2) ,can be called pyrite. Use iron fillings and sulphur powder and distinguish between these on the basis of: i) appearance i.e., homogeneity and heterogeneity ii) behavior towards a magnet iii) behavior towards carbon disulphide a solvent iv) effect of heat.
The iron fillings are attracted by the magnet and separated from the sulphur powder.
That produces a strongly exothermic reaction that results in the production of a grey substance, an iron sulphide. Please see the link.
you use a magent
Heating Powder - 1908 was released on: USA: September 1908
If you put the magnet near the iron fillings, they will be drawn out by the magnetic pull of the magnet.
get a magnet that attracts iron
Use a magnet to lift out the iron filings.
The iron and sulfur react to form the compound iron sulfide.
the powder may have absorbed moisture from the surrounding environment during the heating process.
Baking powder is thermally decomposed by heating (absorb heat).
