A/C could be bad
Wires could be frayed and touching
A/C Relay could be bad
not hard to check on this car. just jack it up and get underneath. A/C should be on the bottom pulley. Check the engine diagram under the hood.

The AC recharge valve on a 2001 Chevy Impala 3.4L V6 is near the firewall. It is the larger of the two tubing.
if you are blowing fuses DO NOT ignore it. most likely you have a short between the fuse box and the ac compressor, you will probly have to rip out the dash to find it, its not easy, seriusly pay someone that knows what there doing to fix it.

AC Delco 78DT6YR seems appropriate for your car...
A 2001uses R134a refrigerant.
Most AC's that don't blow cold need a recharge - not a computer redo.
You may have a bad compressor clutch coil, you need to check the coil and work from there................
the a/c clutch is loose and is shorting out. the compressor and clutch must be replaced
For BEST performance you should exactly what came in it and that is AC Delco.
Likely the blower motor is bad, causing increased current and blowing the fuse. Replace the blower motor.
