You can adjust tapping valves by adjusting the lifters.
I have a mitsubishi galant 2003 and the hydraulic lifters are tapping. It comes and goes. Should these be replaced? Have the lifters adjusted.

The lifters are hydraulic type.If you are referring to the rocker arm shaft bolts, they should be torqued to 16-21 ft lbs. Hope ths helps,Tim Olsen.

No to the roller lifters in the 2.8 Ford V6. The 2.8 as well as the 2.9 has regular flat tappet lifters and regular rocker arms.
possibly low oil or low oil pressure, the tapping may be coming from the oil operated hydraulic lifters.
