I don't know why. but it could be one of 3 reasons or any combination of them.1. steel cans make the shake heavier, so psychologically you think your eating a lot of food when in reality its only 11 ounces.
2. steel is far superior when it comes to shipping slimfast. because if it was in an aluminum can it would burst open (the mouth) it is was dented because of the density of the liquid and because the cans aren't pressurized like sodas.
3. The slimfast plant is in Arizona and they have a huge metal industry there they are ranked in the top 5 for copper ore almost every year they also have a huge Steel business too so. it might be more economical for slimfast to use the steel because it could be cheaper them aluminum.
why aren't food cans made of stainless steel
Last I checked, stainless steel is actually an expensive alternative for cans.
It could run straight through. THINKA DATTA.
Stainless steel trash cans often look more stylish than plastic trash cans. In a kitchen this can mean that they match appliances and make the kitchen look more stylish and elegant. Another benefit is that stainless steel does not absorb any odours. If items such as food waste are being put in the trash can over time these smells can be absorbed by plastic. Stainless steel is also very easy to wipe clean and disinfectant spray can be used if required.

No, food cans are made of steel, cans for nonacidic beverages are usually made of aluminum, cans for acidic beverages are made of steel. Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon, sometimes with other elements (some steel alloys include some nickel, but these are usually specialty steels and should not be needed in cans).
It's cheaper to make cans with a main steel body and coat them with tin. Strength of steel and the corrosion resistance of tin.
Aluminum and stainless steel are used extensively in the food industry.

The best material of dinnerware for hot food would be stainless steel. Plastic often has dangerous chemicals that would be harmful to eat, but stainless steel is safe for surgeries, and food.
Vegetables, pet food, aerosol cans, fruit and fruit juices, seafoods, and baby food were all commonly packaged in steel cans.
