Every living thing on earth needs oxygen to be able to live. In the case of fish, they extract oxygen that is dissolved in the water by using their gills which are the equivalent of our lungs.
Fish are important because many fast food places these days are based on sea foods its what everyone wants and it builds up our money and we dont have to worry about running out so soon so fish are very impartant.
Fish need water to live if fish doesn't have water they will die.
Their bodies function to extract oxygen from water (through gills) rather than from air (through lungs).
They need the water like we need oxygen. They breath in the water using there gills to keep them alive.
don't ever get a water plant for your fish tank it's covered in many creepy crawleys and they attack your fish and kill them. I've discovered this many times.
Without water, their gills will dry and prevent the fish from absorbing oxygen - so it will suffocate.
