I believe it is because the Marines train there snipers to look at shapes not colors because colors can be camo and blend with the surrounding area. In WWII they used colorblind people to spot camo because they didn't see the color just the shape of what it was hiding.

Well it's a matter of personal preference. Army will help with school more, but marine scout snipers are top notch.

no their is not such a thing as an ex marine or army men! There is a saying, "You can take the boy out of the service, but you can't take the service out of the boy." Substitute "army" or "Marines" for "service." The reality of this is that military training is such that the person who reports to Basic Training is not the person who leaves; the soldier and Marine are made into a new person with new perceptions and abilities.
