I would only assume it would be to try to find out if you could live on neptune, do research on all materials found on neptune, or just for the heck of it :)

Ther really is no reason because 1 there is no air on neptune 2 it's atmosphere has dangorous chemicals in it (80% hydrogen, 19% helium, 1% methane and ammonia) and 3 because it would take your whole life to get there
