It may be because you need to update your cheats, as the game ID and cheats need to be on the Action Replay's file or it won't recognise it, or have any cheats for it.
Answerthe action replay doesn't break if you take care of it, and if it isn't reading than simply take it out, blow on the end that you put in the ds and do the same for the game.
just remember not to use the cheats too often or your game might freeze
AnswerThe Action Replay will not read pirated games
AnswerIf your Action Replay DS is bricked, it won't start up. if that happens, you'll have to use a flash cart and update the AR's firmware
idulkoan-
it depends on what your doing. try blowing in the slot. blow on the slot 1 card. (DO NOT LET SALIVA IN!!!) if error still occurs, get a flashcart, (i prefer R4), and download the AR's firmware (if ar is bricked) and update the ar. also check your ar, because it might have ended up like mine. mine was melted and inside a chip blew up. that caused my updating via wire to not work. it always ended up like this:
error!

If unsuccessful, try contacting codejunkies.
Try the following in order:
Try 1) With the end of the cable that plugs into the Action Replay disconnected from the AR, take a good look at the connector. Half of the connector is plastic, while the other half is metal. Be sure to plug the cable into the AR with the PLASTIC side UP (UP is in respect to the top and bottom of the DS while the AR is plugged in. UP means towards the lid of the DS, while down would mean towards the bottom of the DS where the battery cover is located). The plug will fit in with either side up, but the connection between PC and AR will only work one way.
Try 2) If you are running Wndows Vista 64, then your PC will not be able to read the AR/DS. Sorry.
Try 3) Be sure that you:
a) Plug the AR into the DS while the DS is OFF
b) then power the DS up and let the AR load up
c) plug the smaller end of the USB cable into the AR with the plastic half up (as described in Attempt 1).
d) Then, plug the USB end of the plug into the PC.
e) Press the Mouse icon on the DS's AR menu.
Try 4) Unplug the Ar/DS from the PC and reboot the PC. After the reboot has completed, follow Attempt 2 again before continuing onto Try 4 if no success.
Try 5) Try plugging the USB end of the cable directly into the PC itself (meaning, anywhere on the computer itself, NOT in USB slots on monitors or USB Hubs).
Try 6) Uninstall the AR Device Manager from the compuiter, reboot, reinstall, reboot again and then repeat Try 2 one more time.
Try 7) Now call Datel's customer support via www.codejunkies.com
I hope this helped. I had the same problem and turned out that I just needed to do try 1. Took me hours to figue that one out. The end of the cable that plugs into the AR has a slight design flaw IMO.
see this hidden FAQ on Datels customer service site it may help

You can add games to your Action Replay DS.
1. Open up the "Action Replay Code Manager" on the Computer
2. On your "Codelists" create a new folder, and then in there create a "New Game".
3. Enter the Game ID, and other information about the game onto the screen that you are prompted on.
4. Transfer the new game you created back to your Action Replay DS.
Because the dsi has a special action replay

You cant, But there might be some codes online for it....
Yes
u put the game in the opening in ur action replay i think
well at the very top where the names of the games are listed there should be an add button. CrIsTaL:D
you cant not even for black it freezes the action replay dont use your action replay on any of those two games because your game data could be gone wait till a new ar (action replay) comes out or just play without action replay bye bye
Some games are not compatible with the Action Replay, thus not letting newer games use the device.
