Car radiators are painted black because it emits the most heat through radiation (highest emissivity). This improves the heat transfer out of the radiator when air isn't moving through the radiator.

"black color = high emissivity/absorptivity" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_radiation
The paint acts to protect the radiator and its components from rust, scale, and minor impacts (bugs); there is some argument over the claim that the paint offers a smooth uniform surface for 'faster airflow' and better cooling of the radiator. Also note that many cars are intended for the area behind the grille to be black (a backdrop to the grille).

Why central heating radiators work better if they are painted black?

The color black neturally magnifies heat.

Are the surfaces of car radiators dull or shiny?

Most car radiators are black as black radiates heat more efficiently than any other color.

Why the radiators painted black?

You can paint the radiator tanks any color you want to but don't paint the radiator core itself. Painting the core will negatively affect the radiators ability to transfer heat away from the engine coolant.

Why don't car radiators rust?

car radiators used to be made of copper, copper doesnt rust. most radiators are now made from aluminum.aluminum also does no rust

Can you paint an auto radiator?

Yes, copper cored radiators with copper tanks should be painted, but the core area should only be painted lightly (only just covering) , as painting heavily will reduce heat transfer. Modern aluminum cross- flow radiators with plastic tanks are not painted.

Why are some cars painted black?

coz they want to look nice*and if their not painted their look boring , &besides if the cars are not painted maybe the owner of the car will know the car ,if you know if i mean !*

Why is water used as a coolant in car radiators?

Water is used as coolant in car radiators because it has high specific heat capacity of 4200 Joules. It has the highest specific heat capacity than any other substance. That is why it is used as coolant in car radiators

What is a car radiator made of?

most car radiators are copper or aluminum and plastic.

Why is water used in car radiators?

Water isn't used in car radiators, radiator fluid is. that is used because it is a liquid of the right density to hold radiated heat from the radiator and pass it around the car where it is needed.

Where can you buy the best car radiator?

A good source for car radiators is Radiators Online, a wholesaler that provides a wide range of choice amongst different Car Manufacturers. You could also try visiting your local mechanic.

Why is the back of your fridge black?

A fridge cools things by removing heat energy from the inside of the fridge. This makes it cold inside the fridge. The heat energy that is removed ends up at the back of the fridge. The back of the fridge is often painted black because that makes it a good emitter of heat energy. The fridge may also have a metal cooling grille, also painted black, to help it loose heat to the air. The radiators in our house could be black and it would help them to emit heat into our rooms. In practice people do not want black radiators so they are generally white. the shape of a radiator is designed to give up its heat to air rising up through it.
