The reference line on a business letter is placed one space below the inside address and one space above the salutation; at the left margin on a block style or modified block style format, and center tab on a standard indented letter.
Unless a business has a monopoly, and very few do, then the business is in a competitive environment. The mindset of successful business executives says that a company is either moving forward or it is moving backward. If a business were to stay at a given sales level and a given profit level, it will actually fall behind because the competition will be moving forward. The competition is for the best customers, the best suppliers, the best contracts, the best employees, the best sales revenue, the best market share, the best profit margin, the best quality etc. That's the world we live in. So businesses that want to survive find that they must set objectives and goals that reflect growth. When a business ends the year with very positive results, they start the next year needing to further improve on their results in order to stay ahead. That's the world as management knows it. To sum it up, achievement adds to profitability, thus a company seeks it in all aspects of the company's operations.
An opportunity matrix is a decision analysis tool for analyzing potential opportunities. Entrepreneurs use it, but so do many other companies. The idea is that, since capitalism is the direction of scarce resources (money and time) to activities that maximize profit, business leaders must decide between opportunities. A common tool for analyzing opportunities is the opportunity matrix. There is no set format, however, a common layout is to list opportunities in the rows of a spreadsheet and different criteria (such as gross margin) in the columns. This allows one a consistent framework for analyzing opportunities.
This is known as Global Standardization, which means developing standardized products marketed worldwide with a standardized marketing mix. An example of this is the Big-Mac of McDonald's. They used the same brand name and same slogan for the same product all over the world. This assumes that their is a large, similar target market that can be targeted globally. McDonald's and Coca-Cola are two examples of companies using this strategy. The main advantage of this strategy is cost saving. Using standardized products across all your business units helps generate economies of scale. These savings can then be applied to your business' margin, lower price to consumer, or reinvested into the company for research and development. In the examples of Coke and McDonald's they use their cost savings to offer low prices to consumers, they then make their money with smaller margins spread across high numbers of consumers.
A business letter is typically a letter written to a company. The standard margin in a business letter is one to one and a fourth inches.

The standard margin on a business letter is one inch (1"), although some people prefer one and a quarter inches (1.25"). Both are acceptable.
No, the date on a business letter belongs at the margin, not in the margin.
No, the date on a business letter is between the margins within the body of the letter, Place the date at the margin not in the margin itself.
2 inches :)
A blocked business letter is when the left margin and right margin are the same. If doing the letter on the computer you can start off on WORD by hitting 'justified' so that when you type the right margin will be one straight line down the whole part of your letter. It's neater looking and more business-like.
When using letterhead, the date is placed 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the top edge of the paper or about 1/2 inch below the printing of the letterhead. When using plain paper, the date is placed one blank line below the return address. For a standard format business letter, the date is justified to the right margin; on a block format business letter, the date is justified to the left margin.
The top and bottom of a business letter should be 1" to 1.25" from the top and bottom of the page. When using letterhead, a margin of .5" to 1" below the printed letterhead is sufficient.

You do not vertically center a business or a personal letter. The left and right margins of a letter should be equal, but type or print is justified at the left margin.
The top margin should be 2 inches.... The left margin should be 1.5 inches and the right and bottom margin should be 1 inch:)
