Hello, Jamison here, I do not have A enterchange book to see if the two vehicles are compatible, But if you already Changed the engine out and everything hooked up then it MUST be atleast enterchangeable in the basic form,,,,,,,,,,,,, I assume the engine runs, If not the check engine would be anyway, It will be on anytime the key is on and the engine not running,,,,,So lets say the engine runs fine,,,,,,,,,It is one of two things, Either you left a wire dissconnected or the NEW engine has A bad part, The easiest way to find the problem is to scan the ECM for codes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, If the engine will not START, And EVERYTHING hooked up, THen the ECM is on A different frequency from one car to the other,,,,,,,,, You MUST change ALL parts that plug in on the new engine,,,,,,,,OIL SENDER,TEMP SENDER,TPS,0-2,MAP,MAF,FLOW METER,DISTRIBUTOR,CAM POSISION,CRANK POSISION,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ALL THE ELECTRICAL PARTS.,,,,,,,,Good luck, Jamison.
check engine
To reset the check engine light first lift and prop up the hood of the 2002 Nissan Sentra. Then proceed to remove the negative battery cable for five seconds.
A check engine light could mean many things on a 1988 Nissan Sentra. The light could mean anything to a fuel cap not being tight enough to bad spark plugs.
change the oil filter
The 'oxygen sensor'may need to be replaced on '96 Sentra when the check engine light comes on. The should be replaced on the '96 Sentra every 100k miles for better fuel efficiency and to protect the converter.
Check with a Nissan dealer.
The computer has detected a problem with the emissions system. Have it repaired before it becomes serious.
Check the vacuum hose that feeds into the cruise module in the engine.
Make sure you have the ignition supply for the injectors. Check the starter signal input to the engine computer.
