in my opinion, cultivating microbes on slant agar is carried out when we do not know anything about the microbe. slant agar is a nutrient rich medium that allows most microorganism to grow. therefore, we could obtain a pure sample of the microorganism.

Slant agar is great to use because it allows researchers to consolidate a wide variety of bacteria they wish to store in a very small space such as a test tube rack. It has the similar benefits of TSA plates, but can be kept much easier.
agar slant
agar is used for growing microbes as to culture microorganisms you must provide a culture medium containing carbohydrate as an energy source along with mineral ions and protein and vitamins. these nutrients are often contained in an agar medium. agar is a substance that can dissolve in hot water to form a jelly. you pour hot agar into a petri dish to set as a way to provide all the nutrients for the microbes to reproduce successfully. AGAR helps to make the media in semisolid or in jelly form which allow the microbial colonies to grow on surface by providing them better surface and we can study the colonial character of different species of microbes.

You have to make subculture from this slant and after incubation you can observe how many types of microorganisms are present in the nutrient agar slant. If you have one colony shape so you have a pure nutrient agar slant but if you have more than one type of colonies so the nutrient agar slant is contaminated.
agar is botained from a red alga called gelidium
Slants are better suited than agar plates, because they can be capped, preventing the agar and the culture from drying out. The cap also prevents airborne contaminants from entering the slant. Also, slants take up less storage space than an agar plate.
a slant broth is a type of inoculating agar to gather bacterial data from.
Yes. Agar is derived from the polysaccharide agarose which comes from seaweed. Agar is a jell. Different types support growth of microbes in the laboratory.

Lactose is used as a selective nutrient in the agar as not all microbes can process lactose
Agar deep refers to a measure used with microbes. It is a measurement of how much gas a microbe requires for survival.
Differential media or selective media is an agar that has certain nutrient to grow certain microbes. Simple media is an agar that has simple sugars that many normal microbes thrive in.
