Glass can always be cut by diamond, so if precision is required over a variety of glass types, diamond will be preferred as the cutting tool.
:)
Diamond is harder than glass, so a diamond will 'mark' glass. Glass-cutting takes place when the worker uses a diamond-tipped tool to mark the glass along the cut line, then applies pressure to the glass on both sides of the mark. Glass-cutting tools are tipped with industrial diamonds, which are 80% of all diamonds mined.
Try cutting glass with it
Diamond is the hardest natural mineral. Industrial diamonds -- about 80% of all diamonds mined -- enhance tools that require sharp, precise and detailed accuracy. Tools for cutting glass are tipped with industrial diamond material.
Diamond-tipped tools are used to cut glass, because diamond is the hardest mineral. Cutting glass plates requires a score line, long which pressure is applied to separate the pieces of glass into the desired dimensions.
To determine if your diamond is real, use a magnifying glass up and look at the diamond through the glass. Look for imperfections in the stone. If you're unable to find any, then the diamond is probably fake. the majority of real diamonds have imperfections also called inclusions.

As the logic goes it is difficult to cut glass with glass. Diamond saws are used for cutting rough diamonds. The lasers are also used widely to cut diamonds. The cutting of rough diamond also followed by girdling.
Not any more, now some man made can do that
with considerable difficulty. I'd use a Dremel with a diamond cutting disc.

Diamond mini cutting disks sound like a cutting tool for a Dremel or a similar small machine. It's a metal disc about the size of a coin but thinner that has tiny, tiny industrial Diamonds embedded in it. They cut metal and glass just fine.
